Tayon Help

Manage your domain's DNS records

Add, change and remove DNS records, set up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 in one step, ask the assistant, and undo a change.

You’ll need: A domain bought or connected on Tayon, showing Active.

DNS records tell the internet where your website, email and other services live. For any domain you bought or connected on Tayon, you manage them on one screen — and every change is shown to you for review before it goes live.

Domains

Find the domain on the list and choose Manage DNS. The button appears once the domain is Active. Four tabs open underneath it.

#Records

Records lists every record on the domain, with its Type, Name, Value, TTL and, for website records, whether it is Proxied or DNS only.

To add one:

  1. Choose Add record.
  2. Pick the Type. The form changes to ask for what that type needs — an address, a hostname, a mail server and Priority, and so on.
  3. Fill in the Name (@ for the domain itself) and the value.
  4. Choose Review change.
  5. Read the summary under Review this change and choose Apply change.

Edit and Delete on each row work the same way: nothing happens until you confirm the review.

Applied changes are usually live within a minute. A record’s type cannot be changed in place — delete it and add a new one. Nameserver records cannot be changed here.

#Records with a lock

Records marked with a lock and a label — Website, Website (www), Form, Chat, Email, Email (SPF), Email (DKIM), Email (DMARC) — were created by Tayon for one of your services.

You can still change or delete them, but the review tells you what will break, for example Your website on this domain will stop loading. To go ahead you must type the domain name into Type … to confirm. The assistant can never confirm this for you.

#Quick setup

Quick setup prepares the records for common services so you do not have to copy them by hand:

  • Google Workspace — Gmail with your domain.
  • Microsoft 365 — Outlook with your domain.
  • Zoho Mail — pick your Zoho Region.
  • Verify a service — paste the TXT value Google, Meta, Microsoft or another service gave you.
  • Point a subdomain — send a name such as shop.yourdomain.com to another service. Enter the Subdomain and where it Points to (IP or hostname).

Pick one, fill in what it asks, and choose Review change. You see exactly which records will be added, changed or removed before you apply. Running the same setup twice changes nothing.

#Ask the assistant

Ask the assistant lets you ask in plain words — “Why is my email going to spam?” or “Point shop.mydomain.com to my Shopify store”. It can explain your records, look for problems and prepare a change.

When it proposes a change, choose Review change under its reply. The same review appears as for a change you make yourself, and nothing is applied until you choose Apply change.

#History and Undo

History shows your last 15 changes, who made them — you, the assistant, or Tayon’s automatic setup — and when. Choose Undo on a change to put the records back as they were before it.

#Email records are written for you

When you create a mailbox on a domain that is on Tayon, its email records — mail server, SPF, DKIM and DMARC — are written automatically:

  • an existing SPF record is merged, not duplicated;
  • a DMARC record you already have is kept.

The mailbox then verifies itself within a few minutes. You do not need to copy anything from DNS Settings. See Set up email on your own domain.

#If something goes wrong

  • That proposal is too old — a review not applied within 30 minutes expires. Make the change again.
  • Too many changes at once — split the change into smaller ones.
  • We couldn’t load the records right now — wait a moment and reopen Manage DNS.
  • You changed a locked record by mistake — open History and choose Undo.
